Weekly Volunteer Opportunities - Respond by 9/5/25

Project HELP and Fraternity and Sorority Life have two on-going volunteer opportunities for the fall semester open to members of fraternities and sororities. Those who are interested would commit to volunteering at the Ted K Center of the Plattsburgh Housing Authority or the Adult Day Health Center at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center a minimum of once per week throughout the semester.

The first opportunity is the Ted K.Center early childhood and after-school programs. The Ted K. Center provides educational, social and recreational services to youth and families residing in the Plattsburgh Housing Authority developments. Daily activities are focused on the core areas of creativity, physical fitness, homework completion, computer learning, nutrition education and general recreation. Volunteers should expect to engage in arts and crafts, games, sports and more with the children.

Opportunities will be available to a core group of students to volunteer weekly during the early childhood program between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the after school program between 2:30 - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. You do not need to be available during those entire time frames nor do you need to be available every day.

You must be committed to volunteering at least once per week at Ted K with the intention of developing relationships with the children in the programs. Volunteers must be dependable, have good moral character and agree to be positive role models to the children. All volunteers will go through a brief training and orientation program and may be invited to reflection conversations over the course of the semester.

This opportunity is available any day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. You would choose one of those days to volunteer each week within the timeframe. You must be committed to volunteering at least once per week at the Adult Day Center with the intention of developing relationships with the program participants.
