Unfortunately, hazing often produces fear instead of trust, secrecy instead of leadership, and trauma instead of belonging.
This program helps student groups completely rethink what a great new member experience should accomplish. Rather than simply eliminating hazing, participants learn how to intentionally design rites of passage, traditions, challenges, leadership opportunities, service projects, and shared experiences that create stronger brotherhood or sisterhood than hazing ever could.
Students will leave with a practical framework for rebuilding their organizational culture and creating a membership experience that future generations will actually be proud to inherit.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
• Discover what members are actually trying to accomplish through hazing.
• Separate healthy challenge from harmful hazing.
• Learn the five psychological needs every new member program should satisfy.
• Evaluate which traditions build culture and which quietly destroy it.
• Develop meaningful alternatives that strengthen commitment and belonging.
• Create a roadmap for rebuilding their new member experience.
