Clowning is a theatrical form that places physical expression above words, presence above preparation, and being honest above being funny. In this workshop, performers will learn to not only live in "the flop," but embrace that place of failure through physical comedy and connection to the audience.
Michael Galligan, is an actor, producer, and teaching artist. His work has been developed and performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Cannonball Festival, PortFringe, 59E59 Theater and the Upper Jay Art Center. His solo clown show, BANANA, was called a "comedic tour de force" in a five-star review from The Interrobang's Top Comedy Picks of the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe. Michael is a Lead Teaching Artist with Irondale Center, as well as a Teaching Artist with the Classical Theater of Harlem, Queens Theater, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital's Lang Youth Medical Program.
