This workshop, presented by a Hazing Prevention Network facilitator, will engage student leaders in applying real-time hazing research about the predictors and outcomes of hazing to their campus experiences. You will work with other student leaders to understand and identify the campus specific motivators for individual, organizational, and community participation in hazing. Guided by the strategies to prevent hazing, you will leave the workshop having prioritized strategies you plan to implement in your own student group. You may think, "But my student group doesn't haze so why should I go to this program?" As members of the SUNY Plattsburgh community, we need all students to take a stand together against this harmful practice that threatens the safety and wellbeing of your fellow students. From learning to intervene when you suspect hazing is occurring to a friend or roommate to developing a strategy to create a strong culture in your organization that doesn't allow hazing or related behaviors to emerge, this program is important. We need YOU to make a difference at SUNY Plattsburgh!
This program is for Student Association leaders, club/organization officers, student athletes, Community Living student staff and fraternity/sorority members. Pre-registration is required by signing up on Cardinal Link by Wednesday, September 17.
