ASPIRE NY: Aspirational Masculinity Workshop (session 1)

Aspirational Masculinity is a philosophical approach to working with boys and men developed by Don McPherson. Following a college football hall of fame career at Syracuse University and seven seasons of professional football, McPherson has been engaged in gender violence prevention programs for three decades, promoting male accountability and leadership. This innovative approach represents a fundamental paradigm shift in the masculinity conversation.

“Aspirational Masculinity” focuses on what we want and hope for boys and men and, promotes a positive and deliberate examination of male identity and the relationships and behaviors of and between boys and men. The approach centers on the individual and collective growth of boys and men and reaches across the lifespan encouraging boys and men to live positive lives that are authentic, whole and evolving (AWE).

The Title IX Office is excited to announce this partnership with the NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence to host two campus-wide workshops facilitated and lead by Don McPherson on October 31 and November 14.
