Halloween Costume and Candy Couture Drive

Delta Phi Epsilon sorority is hosting “Candy and Costume Couture: Halloween Drive” from now until October 27th! They are collecting donations of full-piece costumes, pieces of costumes, and candy to donate to children at Plattsburgh’s Ted-K Center and The Salvation Army. Their members volunteer at the Salvation Army every week and have developed a close relationship with them. All children of Plattsburgh should have a spooktastic Halloween, even if their families can't afford to purchase costumes.

Donation boxes are at the University Police Office, Fraternity & Sorority Life Office (ACC Room 203), and the Plattsburgh Public Library. Please donate and put smiles on children’s faces. For more information email Saveria Somma at ssomm002@plattsburgh.edu

Fraternity/Sorority Leadership Development Series: Healthy Relationships

The third installment in the FS Leadership Development Series, Healthy Relationships, will be held twice immediately after Fall Break. The first opportunity is on Wednesday, October 16 at 7 p.m. in Yokum 202. It will be offered again on Thursday, October 17 at noon in the ACC Alumni Conference Room. This program, presented by Kim Irland from Title IX, will focus the components of positive relationships with friends, family members and partners. This program is co-sponsored by IFC and ISA and will count as a Sexual & Interpersonal Violence educational program requirement.

Pillars of Excellence Recognition

Nominate a fraternity/sorority organization or member for a Pillar of Excellence Recognition. There are four areas that you can nominate someone in: Friendship, Scholarship, Leadership and Service. We will announce nominees on Fraternity & Sorority Life and Center for Student Involvement social media and recap weekly winners in each Fraternity & Sorority Update. To nominate a group or individual, simply send an email to FSlife@plattsburgh.edu explaining why you are nominating the group/individual, which pillar of excellence you are nominating them for (e.g. friendship, scholarship, etc.) and attach a photo if you have one.

Congratulations to those recognized the past week:

Service/Philanthropy: Alpha Epsilon Phi for being the all-stars at the Planned Parenthood Color Blast 5K

Service/Philanthropy: Theta Gamma for doing Adopt-A-Highway, YMCA Camp Jericho Clean Up and volunteering at Emergency Preparedness Day all in the same week.

World Food Day Bingo Night

World Food Day Bingo Night will be held on October 16 at 7 p.m. in the Warren Ballrooms, hosted in collaboration on behalf of JCEO and partnering with Cardinal Cupboard. JCEO is a non profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty through impactful programs and its food pantry. Grab some brothers/sisters and even some potential members to learn more about food insecurity. Contact Kaliyah Green for more information.
