Academic Affairs Board
The Academic Affairs Board (AAB) is dedicated in representing the student body in academic matters. We work to bridge the gap between students and students and between students and faculty. We work with faculty and deans of different departments to find solutions for campus academic problems. With their help, we write up policies and develop innovative plans. We set goals every semester and work as a team to make them happen.
Activities Coordination Board
The Activities Coordination Board (ACB) is involved in creating and planning events around campus for students to enjoy. These events include movies at Cumberland 12, trips to places like Six Flags, Spring Carnival, and weekly coffee house. The ACB consists of six different committees: Athletics, Special Events, Coffee House, Promotions and the Concert Committee, and F.E.N.T., (films, entertainment, novelties, and trips).
Art Acquisition Board
The art Acquisition Board is responsible for the discussion, voting and purchase of artwork to be owned by the Student Association which is also curated and maintained by the SUNY Plattsburgh Art Museum. Each semester the board must purchase artwork to add to the SA’s collection that is within the budget that will be an asset to the collection as well as increase its value of the collection. Anystudent is eligible to become a voting member of Art Acquisition Board. After attending three meetings the student will be considered a voting member. The board strives to purchase strong artworks that will be displayed on campus to benefit the students and further show the school's support and dedication to the arts.
Finance Board
The Finance board is responsible for allocating SA fee to student organizations in an efficient and timely manner, and ensuring transparency of processes, deadlines, policies, and decisions. The finance board must strive to find a balance between funding what are accepted to be the most popular and deserving events while simultaneously ensuring that small niche groups have a chance at funding as well.
Legislative Review Board
The Legislation Review Board is responsible for aiding the legislative process by reviewing proposed legislation and providing recommendations based on clarity, constitutionality, and potential impact. The Legislation Review Board shall assist any Student Association member requesting assistance drafting written legislation or Student Association programs. The Legislation Review Board may vote to recommend a document or legislation to the Executive or Legislative Branch.
The Student Affairs Board
The Student Affairs Board provides services to the student body, such as the daily shuttle, the voter registration campaign, and much more. Board members can propose programs and services, vote on them, and offer them to the campus body. The student diversity board addresses the concerns of groups including but not limited to students of color, women, religious minorities, LGBTQ students, and more. The board members can do so in different ways, such as hosting speakers, organizing workshops, establishing discussion groups (student or faculty-led), or any other way that seems fit.
Board Of Elections
The Board of Elections manages the election process for the Student Association. The board's main function is to prepare for the general election in the Spring Semester of the next Academic year. The board is also responsible for holding special elections when the president decides to hold a special election vs appointing new members.
